Emergency Appeal: Protecting Malawi's health workers with PPE
OxCME is linked with the charity Medic-to-Medic which is currently crowd fundraising money for PPE for hospitals in Malawi. We recently received the following update:
"One of our graduates is already in quarantine in Lilongwe because she was looking after one of the Covid-19 patients that unfortunately passed away last week. Naturally we are extremely concerned for them. We're using a local network of tailors and street vendors for commissioning of scrubs, visors, soap and hand sanitiser and also using the existing suppliers in Blantyre for gloves and masks. We want to make sure that we're commissioning things to be made in country, firstly so that Malawi's businesses can benefit but also so that we're not taking away PPE from other countries as well. We are also linked with the official taskforce for Malawi's Covid-19 response to ensure the best use of the resources we can provide."
We invite you to support the Medic-to-Medic appeal for Malawi, and if you do, please mention OxCME in your comments.
